Healthy food for a healthy community

Healthy food is essential to a healthy life.

Here in Sarasota and DeSoto counties, many of our neighbors are struggling to make ends meet — especially as harmful government cuts and increasing living costs continue to threaten access to basic needs, like food, housing and healthcare.

At All Faiths Food Bank, we work to distribute millions of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to people experiencing hunger each year. This work is founded on the belief that the bounty of the autumn harvest belongs to all.

Thanks to your support in the fall, the Autumn Harvest campaign raises funds to ensure community members have access to the healthy food they need to secure the bright future they deserve.

Your gifts do so much good

Fresh fruit and vegetables have special meaning for Precious, a hardworking DeSoto mother. For her, produce is a reminder of days spent with her grandmother, tending the family garden. Fast forward, and Precious has three children of her own. The family called Fort Myers home until Hurricane Ian forced them to relocate to DeSoto.

For Precious, putting food on the table for her family of four is difficult right now. And she’s not alone. The cost of living remains too high for many of us to make ends meet, and that means healthy food — including produce — is often one of the first sacrifices made to stay afloat.

For Precious, the nutritious food found at the DeSoto mobile distribution is a lifeline. Now, receiving fresh fruit and vegetables not only reminds Precious of her grandmother, but also reminds her of her personal goal — to start a garden with her own children.

Thank you,” Precious says to friends like you who help All Faiths Food Bank provide good, nutritious food. “There have been many times we did not go hungry because of you.
