Hunger Action Month

Great things are not built alone. They require the right pieces, coming together with purpose.

Right now, many families are facing the pressure of rising food costs and difficult choices. This Hunger Action Month, the Feeding America network is reminding communities that assembly is required. Farmers, advocates, volunteers and donors all play an important role in building a system that helps ensure neighbors have access to the food they need.

Every action is a piece of the solution. When we come together, our individual efforts become part of a larger movement helping feed millions and strengthen communities. This Hunger Action month, assembly is required, your action is the missing piece.

Jane volunteers her artistic talents to her local food bank… But where’s the overlap between art and food insecurity? You’d be surprised.

Most recently, Jane has been supporting a food bank project encouraging the city to allow fruit-bearing trees to be planted on public parkways.

“We started dreaming about what would it look like if our city allowed us to plant food trees to make our landscape a food forest, because that would help with food insecurity,” Jane said. “I created a logo and a banner for the effort.”

As someone who experienced food insecurity herself as a child, Jane remains passionate about ensuring her community has enough food to thrive.
