We love our hunger heroes

Thousands of generous individuals, corporate groups, clubs, students, and faith-based organizations help us sort and distribute food each year. We couldn’t do our work without our volunteers and we are grateful everyday for their support.

Volunteer core values

Core Values

Please review these guiding principles, which are central to All Faiths Food Bank, and highlight how we endeavor to represent our mission in the community.

What is a Hunger Hero?

A Hunger Hero is someone who steps up to offer hope for families facing hunger and hardship in our community. We cannot combat food insecurity alone – we need people like YOU who have the desire and courage to answer the call!

Whether you decide to volunteer in one or multiple areas, to help once a month or every week, please know you are the lifeblood that makes our mission possible. Know that your time and energy are valued and appreciated. Know that you will be treated with respect. Know that you are making a positive difference in someone’s life.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Summer 2024 Volunteer Spotlight

Volunteer Spotlight: Jill and Marc Halman Give Back at Sarasota School Pantries

In her career as an epidemiologist, Jill says she felt called to focus on protecting public health and our collective quality of life. Her husband, Marc, was a medical school and hospital administrator. Together, they know the importance of nutritious food for health — and the need for hunger relief in our shared community. Since retiring, the couple has found a special passion in volunteering at various food pantries throughout Sarasota, including the Wilkinson Elementary School and the Roy McBean Boys and Girls Club pantries operated by All Faiths Food Bank. We have been fortunate to partner with Jill and Marc for over three years, ever since the couple learned about All Faiths Food Bank and our mission at their synagogue.

“AFFB is an outstanding resource serving an important need,” says Marc. “We have both been involved for many years. We have served on numerous boards and can’t think of another agency as well run.”
